New logo?

Farmington's new logo?

Farmington's new logo?

Whilst paging through the story book that is part of the Farmington City Council scarecrow contest entry, I came across the page pictured above.

If this is, indeed, the new Farmington City logo, it certainly fits with the “brand print” unveiled earlier this year. And those family figures look vaguely familiar.

Scarecrow Contest deadline looming

Farmington City Council members are represented as Wizard of Oz characters.

Farmington City Council members are represented as Wizard of Oz characters.

From Rapunzel trailing her hair down the front of the historic Cook Building, to all five Farmington City Council members’ faces on characters from the Wizard of Oz, Downtown Farmington has a wide variety of entries in this year’s Scarecrow Contest. Sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority, the contest has been bringing out the creative side of Farmington residents for the past five years. This year’s theme is Books & Fairytales.

Even if you missed this week’s Scarecrow Stroll, as I did, you may still be able to vote for your favorite scarecrow. The folks at the Farmington Press, published by C & G Newspapers, have taken the time to photograph all of the entries (more than 50) and set up an opportunity for you to vote on-line. The last time I checked (this afternoon), there was a problem with the form, but the DDA has been notified and hopefully, the poll will be back up and running before the Thursday, October 22 deadline for casting your vote.
