dBusiness.com via Twitter: Tribute closing for daily service

Scoff at Twitter if you must, but this just came through my ”feed” from @dbusiness and is posted on the dbusiness.com Web site, without detail:

“Epoch Restaurant Group’s Tribute in Farmington Hills, MIch. will be available for private parties & banquets; discontinuing daily service.”

And that led me to a story, posted this evening in the Detroit News.

Tribute has been an upscale gem in Farmington Hills for 13 years. A gift from friends enabled us to dine there once; their $250 gift certificate barely covered two meals and two glasses of wine. The food was gorgeous, the service sublime, but what fascinated me most was the incredible disconnect between the inside and outside of the building. Tribute is hidden from view, and so looked fairly small as we turned into the parking lot. As we sat down to eat in a richly upholstered booth, the dining room seemed almost expansive, with a high ceiling, warm colored wall coverings and subdued lighting.

It was beautiful. And hopefully, Tribute will find a way to preserve that beauty as the owners forge ahead in this new direction.

My husband and I dined there a handful of times, including a sumptuous James Beard dinner where we met Iron Chef Morimoto (among other notable chefs).

I’m sorry to hear that they are essentially closing their doors. Depressing.

  2. This is why it is especially important to get your tickets to our first ever Market Tour on Oct. 17. Although Tribute is now closed to the general public, Executive Chef Rich Travis has committed to partnering with the Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market (one of his self-proclaimed favorites) to present a cooking demonstration, followed by a 3-course lunch, using fresh market ingredients. For $50. a ticket, participants will get a guided tour of the market, along with the opportunity to talk to the very farmers that grow the excellent food they bring every Saturday and learn about their farms and philosophy. Then, they’ll sit down at beautifully decorated tables and enjoy the on-site demo and gourmet lunch created by the masters at Tribute.

Please help support your favorite market and take advantage of this fleeting opportunity. Call Krista Wolter at 248-473-7276 or visit http://www.learngreatfood.com/register for tickets! Participation will be limited to 50 – so time is of the essence!
