Taking care of business – or not

No, that big hole in the ground in the northwest corner of 13 and Orchard Lake isn’t new construction. According to employees at the CVS in the strip mall corner, workers dug up tanks left behind by a gas station once located there. The hole will be filled in, and they’ll get the rest of their parking back.

But CVS won’t be there for long, they’ll be moving into a new building across the street, for which land has already been cleared. This corrects information I provided a few weeks ago that a Walgreen’s would be going into that location.

I was right about the ABC Warehouse, though. They’ve got a sign up on their new Orchard Lake building now.

In other business news, the Farmington Observer reports in Sunday’s edition (posted yesterday on-line) that Farmington City Councilman Tom Buck (no relation to reporter Sue Buck) is seeking more than $16,000 in back rent from Bridal Panache, a business that apparently began imploding not long after it opened in Buck’s Downtown Farmington building. A Farmington businessman is out thousands of dollars, dozens of brides have had their weddings up-ended and where are the owners?

  1. Good for Tom. I hope he gets his money, although given the reputation that the bridal people have built, he’s in for a long fight.

What is it with these bridal salons?

    Scott,

I would like to say the previous tenant, Kray Chic, now located in Novi provided great service when I bought my wedding dress from them. I don’t think all bridal salon’s have these issues.

  3. Nicole,

I didn’t mean to indict all bridal salons – just seems like an inordinate number of them turn up on the local news.

I have also heard good things about Kray Chic. Too bad they couldn’t have stayed in Farmington.
