Detroit Public Television today provided access to the first debate between House District 37 candidates Vicki Barnett (D) and Paul Welday (R), broadcast on DPTV and posted on-line at www.mivote.org
This unprecedented debate project was produced by Detroit Public Television (DPTV) in association with the Center for Michigan, and thus far, six candidates for the State House of Representatives have squared off on camera, arguing their plans for Michigan and why voters should send them to Lansing.
As part of The Great Debates, DPTV and the Center for Michigan have extended debate offers to candidates in 47 contested State House races. While candidate negotiations continue, another 11 debates are set to tape Sept. 22-23. Scheduled debates include candidates for Districts 20, 22, 24, 33, 36, 37, 45, 47, 56, 66.
