It’s funny what you learn when you’re stuck inside the Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion avoiding a downpour.
Hank Borgman has mailed out a “vote no” version of Hank Notes, his self-published newsletter. We are awaiting the arrival of a copy (not from Hank), but have thus far learned:
- The piece contains a list of statements about the streetscape, in the context of what Hank believes is false information from the city and his counter-argument.
- He included the bit about ladies with weak ankles having trouble on the pavers, a modification of my all-time favorite complaint about the streetscape, that the pavers will make it tough for women wearing high heels to get around.
- Mailed with the note is a flyer that claims the streetscape is only the tip of the iceberg, and the city is already planning to build a multi-million parking structure. Seriously.
I do admire those on the “vote no” side for putting their money where their mouths are, so to speak. It is the American way. More to come…

With all the new business that are going to move to Farmington and greater foot traffic that will occur because of the streetscape I can only hope that the city is planning a multi-million dollar parking structure.
