A curious story from the neighborhood…
A motorist of our acquaintance who was passing by Shiawassee Park on Thursday night noticed flames shooting up into the air, in the direction of the playscape. She called from her cell phone and was routed to Farmington Hills police dispatch, which then put her through to Farmington (making the case for shared services?), and in moments a police car screamed into the parking lot, followed by a fire truck. Not wanting to seem like a gawker, the motorist departed for home. Curious as to the outcome – and fearing the playscape had burned to the ground – she returned the next day to find no evidence at all that a fire occurred. Not so much as a singed fence post.
My theory: The fire was in a trash barrel. Any alternate theories will be welcomed in the comments section of this post.
I’m sure the truth will out eventually.
