I have said this before, but it bears repeating: If you’re looking for a neat way to be amused on-line, browse through the Farmington Enterprise archives on-line. Thanks to the Farmington Library, we have a searchable archive of our community newspaper that currently runs from one commemorative issue published in 1888, through the Farmington Observer 2003.
I have been making extensive use of the archive in connection with a research project and just came across the kind of headline you just don’t see any more: “Dropped dead Tuesday.”
Succinct. To the point. Ah, the good old days!
