Even from Warren, Chief has weather-power

In Farmington Hills city government, a legend evolved over a period of time that whenever anyone put former Police Chief Bill Dwyer in charge of the weather for an event, the sun would shine. In eight years of attending Farmington Hills city events, I have never seen a rain-out when the Chief was involved. Now that Dwyer’s police commissioner in the City of Warren, it would seem logical to assume the weather phenomenon would follow him.

That seemed to hold true with the Hills city open house today, because right around mid-morning, the skies darkened and dumped a mixture of rain and ice in Downtown Farmington. But the weather cleared by noon, and as we wandered around the Hills campus at 11 Mile and Orchard Lake, we realized why.

Standing across from a Warren PD emergency vehicle was Bill Dwyer. Wearing sun glasses. Of course.

Good ‘ol “Hollywood” Bill. We’re gonna miss him.

I hear he also used to be able to part the traffic on Orchard Lake Rd. Miracle indeed… : )
