…is Kirsten Haglund, of Farmington Hills. The stunning and poised 19-year-old was crowned Miss Michigan in June of 2007, after winning the title of Miss Oakland County, at a pageant held in Farmington Hills. Her mother told a Muskegon Chronicle reporter last year that Kirsten made a surprising decision to enter her first pageant as a way to earn money for college. Or maybe not so surprising, since Kirsten’s grandmother, Iora Hunt, is a former Miss Michigan. And, as her brother told the paper this evening, Kirsten’s childhood adventures included dressing up as Miss America.
Kirsten takes home $50,000 to continue her education at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Of course, that will wait a year as she travels and speaks out about her platform, raising awareness of eating disorders.
Kirsten was the 2006 Miss Oakland County; the 2007 holder of that title is Samantha Steckloff, also a native of Farmington Hills. Samantha also held the title in 2003 and was fourth runner-up in the 2004 Miss Michigan pageant
