The Farmington Observer reports Farmington city officials will hold a series of community forums facilitated by Dr. Joseph Ohren, a professor at Eastern Michigan University and tied to the Plante Moran merger/shared services study. Because the results of the survey won’t be released until the end of the year, I wondered what the real agenda would be for these meetings.
But a memo recounted in the story shows Dr. Ohren’s only agenda appears to be helping local citizens better understand the history of local government, the role local governments play and how to determine whether a local government is successful, as well as how cooperation and consolidation fit into the picture. It’s the kind of information that will help citizens better understand not only the results of the study, but how their government should and does work.
Sounds eye-opening to me.
